Hello, my name is Reed. With Christmas right around the corner I’ve decided to speak about Christmas and the Christmas spirit.
Christmas is a wonderful time of the year but I do feel as if we lose sight of why we celebrate it. I’m sure if you asked a group of elementary and middle school kids most of them would say we celebrate it because we like presents or something along those lines.
Santa Clause is an odd character. How did he come to be almost a face of a holiday? I like that it shows kids magic and what not but I feel like it just tells kids it is ok to get gifts without saying thank you.
I like to think Santa’s suit was fancy back in the day and that it is the equivalent to a modern day business suit. He is a business man and his business is delivering presents.
Are UPS drivers similar to Santa Clause? I feel like they both deliver things and they are usually gifts or things you want. Should we start rewarding everyday Santas with cookies? But not mailmen they bring bills they should be punished.
I feel like as we get older the Christmas spirit goes a little bit too but remember the basics of the holidays and surround yourself with the people you love. Its better to give than receive. I’m not sure if that applies to the situation but it seems relevant to me.
